For those who have never been to the Vineyard, the only way to get there is by plane or by boat! The Steamship Authority runs ferries nearly every hour and offers the most affordable passenger tickets.
The location of the docks for the ferry services through Steamship Authority is 1 Cowdry Road, Woods Hole, MA 02543
For people who wish to travel with their vehicles: you will need a car reservation (this does not apply to passenger tickets, you can purchase at any time or once at the docks in the information center). Car reservations have been open since Tuesday February 3rd, 2026. In the chance you don't get the time you want, you can join a waitlist for your preferred slot.
For guests not bringing cars: Palmer Parking Lot is about 10 minutes away, and Thomas B. Landers is about 20 minutes away. Shuttle buses run directly to the docks from those parking lots.
Always plan for Cape traffic and parking lot traffic. The Steamship Authority website provides live updates on parking lot availability.
Passenger tickets are $21 round trip.
From Woods Hole, ferries arrive at either Oak Bluffs or Vineyard Haven. Oak Bluffs dock is a short 5-minute walk to Summer Camp Hotel and downtown hotels, while Vineyard Haven dock is about a 7-10 minute drive to Oak Bluffs and wedding events.
Other passenger only fast ferry options:
*Sea streak out of New Bedford and straight to Oak Bluff docks
*The Island Queen passenger ferry out of Falmouth and straight to Oak Bluff docks
*Hy-Line cruises out of Hyannis and straight to Oak Bluff docks.
These options have different parking lot services that should be located on their websites.
Flying is also a very time-efficient way to get to the Vineyard, with flights from Boston taking just under 20 minutes. The airport is small so flights are limited, booking early is recommended. Prices vary widely, so it depends on what works best for you. The airport is located in Katama near the center of the island, about 20 minutes from wedding weekend event locations.
