One cold January night, Justin was having dinner at Zula in Over-the-Rhine with a good friend Tiffany Hudson, who is also a close friend to Sammy (Annies brother). Over some wine, Tiffany mentioned Sammys sister, who just moved back from New York. Justin jokingly said he would take Annie out on a date, but never imagining to follow-up about her. Little did Justin know, Annie was 4 floors above him, liking him on Hinge.
When Justin got home that night, he noticed he had a new like on Hinge by a girl named Annie. After looking at her pictures, he recognized the little details he knew about Sammys sister and immediately messaged Tiffany to ask if she had set this up. She did not.
Justin made the first move, a refreshingly insightful message about a famous JFK speech at American University (Annies alma matter). Annie was immediately intrigued, and agreed to meet up. Even though Justin almost ghosted Annie for another girl he had gone on a few dates with, they did meet for drinks at Libertys, a local neighborhood favorite, followed by a night cap at Low Spark.
Annie was very selective on the dating apps, only setting her parameters for matches within a 3-mile radius. If Justin had not been only a few floors below her at the right time, they might not be celebrating their love with friends and family 4+ years later.
