FROM THE NEW YORK TIMES: THE Blazer Pub, a long established, low-frills hamburger roadhouse on Route 22, takes its name from the Galway Blazers, an elite fox-hunting club in western Ireland. Lore has it that the first of these Irish equestrians would carouse after the hunt in a shed, then burn it to the ground. In the case of the Blazer Pub, known for its juicy, globe-shaped burgers and hand-cut French fries, one can only believe that the erstwhile pyromaniacs would have left it standing.
Adored by all, this local haunt is on the Hamburger America registry and is THE go-to spot for comfort food and friendly service. LSU fans should be able to catch the game in the bar here as well :)
