New Holland Brewing Company produces some unique Western Michigan beers and excellent spirits. This is one of Annie and Zander's favorite restaurants in the area - go to orders include the exotic mushroom pizza, pretzels and beer cheese, and the fried chicken sandwich with dragon fire dry rub. Sit in the beer garden if you can!
A Rudisill family favorite - DeBoer's is the best breakfast place in town. It is always packed on Saturday mornings, but well worth the wait and you can grab coffee in the meantime. They have a great sit down breakfast, but are also known for their specialty bakery items. Do yourself a favor and get the Klompencakes (aka GIANT pancakes).
They also have a location near downtown (South Side) that is just coffee/bakery items/breakfast sandwiches.
If you need a beach day, we recommend Tunnel Park. The views are beautiful - it's a great place to catch the sunset, or soak up the sun during the day. There are also volleyball nets and play structures at the park, too!
The Holland Farmers Market is home to nearly 100 vendors throughout the season. Local farmers offer freshly-picked fruits and vegetables of every variety, beautiful bouquets of flowers and plants for home and garden. A wide variety of baked goods, all natural honey and maple syrup and farm fresh cheese, eggs, and meats are also available, in addition to sweet treats, gourmet specialty foods and much more! The Market is open from 8:00 am – 2:00 pm every Wednesday and Saturday.
The restaurant with the best view - Boatwerks! Boatwerks sits on the edge of Lake Macatawa and you can enjoy your meal from the large patio.
Mount Pisgah is a 275 stair climb to some beautiful views of both Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa. Definitely worth the effort but afterwards, you can always grab an ice cream at the nearby General Store to cool down, or take a swim in the Lake at the State Park.
The General Store is a super spot for candy, snacks, Holland souvenirs, and most importantly, ice cream. Home to Annie's favorite ice cream sundae of all time, the Nutty Pretzel, we highly recommend stopping in for a treat.
Even though it's a chain, we LOVE Kilwins and our favorite is the one in Downtown Holland. Conveniently located right next to New Holland Brewpub, it's a great place to get dessert after dinner. Annie likes the Mackinac Island Fudge ice cream and Zander likes the Oreo shake.
Experience Holland’s unique mix of retail. Independently-owned boutiques line downtown’s 8th Street, selling a variety of items! You’ll find breweries, cafes, cute shops and boutiques…you can easily spend an entire day perusing all the fun stops on this brick-paved street. Our favorites are Spring Sweet, Gezellig, and Downtown Antiques.
You can pick your own berries at Bowerman's or you can enjoy a variety of blueberry-themed treats and coffees in their farm stand.
Ferris coffee is a local favorite with everything made in nearby Grand Rapids. Conveniently located downtown so you can grab a coffee and shop around!
For a classic Holland experience, consider having your morning or mid-day meal at this restaurant. The Windmill Restaurant is a casual diner that serves up breakfast and lunch, and many of its meals are based on old family recipes.
Great for kids! Nelis’ Dutch Village is a place for traditional Dutch food, kids roller coasters, and a petting zoo. Here, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the Dutch community and see performers make wooden shoes.
