Spencer and Annie's love story began in the most 21st-century way possible—on Hinge, in 2022. Despite living just three blocks apart, they somehow needed the magic of online dating to connect. It all started with Annie taking the bold first step and liking Spencer’s profile, specifically the prompt that said, “milk doesn’t expire.” Annie, of course, knew this was absolutely false but decided to engage in a little dairy-related banter. The witty back-and-forth was enough to set a date, but here’s where things got interesting. They set the date, and then... silence. No more messages. No more flirty banter. Just the deafening sound of the internet’s inevitable ghosting. Annie, like any self-respecting millennial, immediately assumed Spencer was about to bail. So, she did what anyone would do in the age of online dating—she messaged him two hours before their date to confirm that they were still on. Meanwhile, Spencer, ever the gentleman, was already prepping for their date, even getting there early to secure a good seat at the bar. He was already in full “I’m totally showing up” mode, and of course, he replied, “Of course we are!” with zero hesitation. Little did he know, Annie had already resigned herself to the fact that she might be eating alone. But as they say, the rest is history. Sparks flew the moment they met, and they spent their first holiday season together and discovered that they were truly compatible after a week of nonstop togetherness. It also didn’t hurt that Spencer charmed Annie’s dog, Nala, right off the bat. Nala, a notoriously tough critic, gave him the coveted dog approval, and from that moment on, Spencer was considered "one of the pack." Fast forward to June 2023, when they decided to take the plunge and move in together. Then, in September of 2024, in the beautiful landscapes of New Mexico, Spencer popped the big question while their parents were meeting for the first time. Now, here they are—about to tie the knot and prove once again that sometimes, the best love stories come from the most unexpected places (like a dating app and a debate about milk).
