What is the Cookie Table?
The "cookie table" is a Pittsburgh wedding tradition with unknown origins, although many agree that Italian, German, or Polish immigrants brought it over to Pittsburgh in the early 1900s (we credit the Italians, of course). Guests are invited to bake, not buy, cookies of their choice to bring and share at the wedding reception, resulting in hundreds of random cookies for all to enjoy. At the end of the night, guests take home their favorite ones as a party favor. Whether you still use an Easy-Bake Oven or call yourself a master pastry chef, we would love if you participated in this voluntary tradition with us!
