For Richie, life was centered around the city that never sleeps (New York) and his medical career in the city of Chicago. For Aparna, life began in the vibrant cities of Jaipur and New Delhi before she crossed an ocean for her advanced degree, eventually settling in San Antonio, Texas. They were worlds apart— American and Indian—with paths so divergent that neither ever imagined they would cross. They were two people, both successful and living full lives, yet harboring a quiet hope for something more.

A Destiny Written Across Continents

After completing her masters degree in Dallas, Aparna moved to San Antonio, Texas. She was adapting to her new life, but the prospect of finding a meaningful connection felt increasingly dim. In Chicago, Richie was fully immersed in his demanding life—simultaneously pursuing his second master’s degree and handling his professional career. He was on the path to success. Despite his accomplishments and relentless schedule, he couldn't shake the feeling that his story wasn't yet complete. And just like that one fine day, destiny intervened. Aparna and Richie met online and began talking. What started as casual conversations quickly evolved into something they both looked forward to—a connection characterized by genuine laughter and ease.That summer, they decided to meet in person in Chicago. Richie, a man of grand gestures, planned something Aparna could never have dreamed of: a private helicopter tour over the magnificent Chicago skyline and the shimmering Michigan River. For Aparna, it was a moment pulled straight from a movie, the most romantic experience of her life. This larger-than-life expression moved her deeply.But it was a simpler moment that sealed the deal. Despite their cultural differences, Richie was game to try Gol Gappa (Pani-puri)—a quintessential Indian street snack—on their first outing. This sincere, heartfelt willingness to embrace her world showed Aparna a depth of understanding and acceptance she craved. For her, being with Richie, even in a foreign country, suddenly felt like home.Richie, meanwhile, was captivated by Aparna's bright smile. With her, he found he could laugh openly and heartily, and life felt inherently better, richer, and more fun.

The City of Destiny

Over the next few months, their bond grew stronger despite the long distance between Chicago and San Antonio. Soon, it was time for the ultimate test: a trip to India to meet Aparna’s family. Aparna needn't have worried. Richie’s genuine warmth is infectious, and her parents immediately adored him.The journey continued into the majestic Himalayas. Along the sacred Ganges River near Haridwar and Rishikesh, away from the noise of the world, Richie and Aparna connected on a profound, spiritual level. It was there, amidst the ancient mountains, that they realized they had been waiting for each other for a very long time. They were two separate lives, but one shared heart.

The Himalayan Affirmation

Now, ready to spend the rest of their lives together, every day is an adventure. For Richie, it is the simple joy and fun Aparna brings to daily life. For Aparna, spending time with Richie feels like spending time with family—a sense of belonging and peace.They’ve built a life together filled with shared passions: long, peaceful walks; laughing together over endless cups of tea on the porch; exploring the Riverwalk in San Antonio; savoring wine in the vineyards of Fredericksburg; going on spontaneous cross-country road trips; and maintaining their spiritual connection by attending temple every Thursday. They even chased a craving for blueberry juice all the way to Helsinki, Finland!They never thought they would find this much fun and love in their 30s, proving that age is truly just a number. As best friends, life partners, and travel partners, Richie and Aparna are excited to begin their forever.
