Soooooo..... for a long long time we were both a TAD embarrassed to say how we really met! Now, we understand that social media is the normal way for people to meet and how its totally normal (hopefully, if not... then whatever hehe).
We both swiped right! (or is it left?) on Tinder, the dating app! At first, when doing the typical girl thing of looking at Danny's Facebook I was a little worried- he barely had any Facebook pictures. After texting for few weeks we went on our first date, mini golfing! Picking me up in his super nice truck helped calm my nerves. That night, I wore a white shirt and I was sweating profusely (yet somehow he still managed to want to see me again). Our next date, I cooked for him and obviously impressed him and won him over with my cooking skills!
For many months we had talked about our "New Jersey Trip." I was soooo excited for a vacation, my first time going on a road trip, and being able to spend time with Danny's family! Danny and I have had bare minimum conversations of marriage, rings, etc. We knew it was something we both wanted but he never really gave me a timeline, and I never wanted to ask.
So of course little did I know that he had the ring a few months before our trip and was planning on proposing.
So we arrived to New Jersey on Saturday, July 1st for Danny's cousins 30th birthday party. There were drinks and family and fun! I went to sleep to get awoken by an alarm clock reminding me we had plans to go into the city and to go to The Statue Of Liberty. We were really excited because we wanted to do this last time we were in New Jersey but the tickets were booked by the time we went to book them.
As soon as we got to the Statue Of Liberty I was in awe of the beautiful day, beautiful statue, and the beautiful view of NYC. Danny's sister, Kristy, asked me to take a picture with her. Of course without thinking I was like "duh!"
After me and Kristy took our picture she asked "Do you guys want one?" and if you know me, you know I love cute basic pictures! As we were going to take the picture I noticed Danny was super stiff and had his hands in his pockets. A second later he got down on one knee and said "April Michelle Dunhill, will you marry me?" I was in shock and started shaking, and had to hold on the ramp to catch my balance then said yes! Being able to say yes with my girl Lady Liberty and all the nice people clapping and cheering in the background was a day I will never forget and cherish forever!
I now get to marry my best friend!
