Here is calm so deep, grasses cease waving. . . . Wonderful how completely everything in wild nature fits into us, as if truly part and parent of us. The sun shines not on us but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing. The trees wave and the flowers bloom in our bodies as well as our souls, and every bird song, wind song, and; tremendous storm song of the rocks in the heart of the mountains is our song, our very own, and sings our love. ---John Muir
**How We Met**
Some may think we're joking when we say "We met in a cave". But it's the truth!
As members of a local camping group, we met in March 2009 on an overnight outing in Preacher's Cave near Payson, AZ. The walls were lined with dozens of candles. A long tarp stretched out in the bottom of the cave for the 10 or so campers to lay their sleeping bags. Our sleeping bags ended up right next to each other. Well, sort of. There was one camper snoozing between us...Jasper:).
After that we'd see each other on various group camp outs. Usually hanging out together laughing and commenting about the group's antics. It was after the campout of July 4th, 2009 at Crescent Moon Ranch in Sedona that both of us began hoping to see each other on subsequent trips. It was also on this trip that April met John's beautiful daughter Cheyenne.
Sparks hadn't yet begun to fly but it was sure nice having a familiar face in what could sometimes be a rather rowdy group of campers. We became casual friends, going to a few sporting events outside of the group. It wasn't until August 2010 that we let the romance in. And well, as the saying goes, "Love is Beautiful Thing"!!!
As our ceremony is at 11AM we don't forsee a big blast of heat, but we will have a 6 hour break in between ceremony and reception so bringing a change of clothes would be wise. You can go rafting, hiking, swimming, walking, go see the visitors center and museums, the old cemetary, the John Muir and Ansel Adams exibits, take the shuttle or guided tour of the valley floor or just sit and enjoy the sights, smells and surrounding of the magical landscape. Please bring a change of shoes, clothes and sunscreen and either bring it to the ceremony in a bag or leave it in your car for after the cermony.
Since this will be a small group of our closest friends and family we will not be having a traditional reception. Instead, we will host dinner at the beautiful and historic Ahwahnee Hotel later that evening at 5:30PM Please consider their dress code when selecting attire to wear or bring to the Valley the day of the ceremony
