We Eloped!

On Monday December 2, 2024 at 4:00 in the afternoon, we met our pastor at the fountain in Forsyth Park and exchanged vows. Eerily empty, Forsyth Park was the perfect backdrop - a place we have spent a lot of time together. Countless picnics, walks, and the occasional meal at Collin's Quarter Cafe - we just knew it was meant to be Forsyth Park. We wanted to celebrate our love in a way that was intimate, authentic, and uniquely ours - a special moment just for the two of us! While our elopement allowed us to solely focus on each other, our hearts wouldn't be complete without sharing this joy with our dearest family and friends. Now, we're excited to host an "after party" where we can celebrate together and make unforgettable memoires with all of you!

Trey and April’s story began in college, at the most unexpected time—just as the world was shutting down. Trey first saw April walking into her friend Brittany’s house, which, by divine coincidence, happened to be right next door to him. Intrigued, Trey immediately texted Brittany’s boyfriend, Jack, to set up an introduction. Encouraged by fate (and a little peer pressure), he worked up the courage to ask April on a date. April, however, had other plans—or at least, that’s what she told herself. Not wanting to outright reject him, she countered with a casual, “How about a group bowling night instead?” (Because nothing says romance like rented shoes and questionable lane conditions.) Needless to say, neither a date nor a bowling night happened. Trey went his way, preparing for his future military career, while April packed up her life and moved across the ocean to pursue her dream—a master’s degree in historic preservation in York, England. The two remained friends from afar, occasionally keeping in touch through social media as their lives took them in separate directions. Over the next three years, April excelled in her field, earning her degree with merit, working on historic buildings across England, and making memories she would cherish forever. Meanwhile, Trey’s journey was one of discipline and resilience as he pursued and achieved the rare and prestigious title of a United States Army Ranger, enduring some of the most rigorous training imaginable. They had accomplished so much—yet, something was missing. They just didn’t know it was each other. In March 2023, April found herself at a crossroads. Homesick and ready for a career shift, she decided to start looking for jobs back in the States. Knowing she had done all she could on her own, she turned to prayer, fully surrendering to God’s plan. (“Alright, God. I’ve tried my best. Your turn!”) Meanwhile, on a ski trip with friends, Trey had a realization: life was too short not to be bold. Encouraged by conversations with his peers, he decided to reach out to April, sharing his long-standing desire to see what could be. But once again, the timing wasn’t quite right. With a new job and a move to Houston, April felt overwhelmed at the thought of starting a new relationship. Trey, undeterred, simply said, “I’ll wait.” And he did. Four months later, at their annual Fourth of July friends’ trip, everything changed. This time, the timing was finally right. With both of them in a good place in life, they gave their relationship the chance it had been waiting for. What followed was a year of long-distance love, frequent flights between Houston and Savannah, meeting each other’s families, and countless FaceTime dates. Through it all, prayer remained at the center of their relationship. Whether it was for guidance, safe travels, or even patience in communication, God was with them in every step. When Trey deployed, their faith only grew stronger. April leaned on Psalm 91, and Trey continued his nightly prayers—prayers for their relationship and the path ahead. Their families joined in, and the blessings were undeniable. So, when Trey proposed at Hilton Head Island on Thanksgiving 2024, April didn’t hesitate. There was no question, no doubt—just a joyful, resounding yes. And after all the waiting, after years of God’s perfect timing aligning their paths, they knew they didn’t want to wait any longer. They chose to elope, because why delay something they had already waited so long for? God’s timing is always perfect. And for Trey and April, it was worth every moment.
