April & John

May 17, 2025 • Ashland, NE

How do I RSVP?

RSVP by texting who will be attending to April (402-741-1416) or John (402-631-7559). Let us know of any dietary restrictions in your RSVP. Please RSVP by March 31st!

Do I need a parking permit or state park pass?

No- normally Mahoney St. Park requires a park permit, but we are covering the cost of parking for all guests without park permits. Just make sure you tell the front desk you're with the Johnson-Helzer wedding when you come through!

What time is dinner?

Dinner will be served at 5 p.m., with dessert following. The meal will be a traditional buffet with several entree and side options.

Are there food choices for different dietary preferences and allergies?

We will do our best to provide a vegetarian food option and peanut/gluten/allergen free food options through our caterer Hy-vee. Please let us know if you have dietary preferences so we can do our best to accommodate them. However, we can't provide a perfect guarantee, so bring your favorite epipen!

Who's the short guy next to the lady in the white dress?

The groom is in his dwarf era. Please be respectful.

What is the dress code?

The dress code is semi-formal, meaning somewhere between black tie and blue-jean barn attire (crocs will be accepted, but only if they have racing stripes). There are no required colors, but as with any wedding, please do not wear white.

What hotel should I stay in?

We don't have a hotel block, but Omaha and Lincoln both have many accommodation options. Additionally, Eugene T. Mahoney State Park has lodging available, but there is a two night minimum stay there.

What is the coriolis effect, and how does it impact this wedding?

The coriolis effect comes from the fact that the Earth is not a true inertial frame; it is accelerating both around the sun and as it rotates on its axis. This coriolis effect manifests as a "fictitious force" that appears as an acceleration relative to the Earth's frame of reference. The coriolis effect is prominently seen in large-scale systems like weather patterns, such as the way a hurricane curves as it moves through one of the hemispheres. Assuming an absence of hurricanes in northeast Nebraska, the coriolis effect will likely not impact this wedding. However, if you throw a ball west to east (or east to west) with sufficient velocity, you might experience a coriolis acceleration!

Are there bears?

Bears should not be an issue at this wedding. However, if you do see a bear, stay calm and remember that you're at an outdoor park, so the bear has every right to disembowel you and you should not be upset about it.
