April and Sam met at a Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Young Adults event hosted at The Hold by Revelry in August 2019. Sam had moved to Charleston, SC a couple of months before and had just become the Young Adults group leader. Over the next few years, April and Sam spent more time together and became good friends through other Young Adults events, hanging out and traveling with their mutual friend group, and co-leading the Charleston Catholic Beer Club. In July 2022, April ended up with an extra ticket to a Thomas Rhett concert and invited Sam. Sam asked April on their first date at the concert, and the rest is history.
