April and Michael’s love story began during their freshman year at La Salle University. Both student-athletes—April playing field hockey and Michael playing soccer—they first crossed paths at a sports party. Michael, not known for his creativity with Instagram captions, posted a picture with April that night, writing “April is my favorite month.” Though they didn’t talk much at the time, the caption hinted at his interest. April later confessed to her field hockey teammates that she had always had a crush on Michael, joking that one day he would be her boyfriend.

Throughout their first two years of college, their interactions were limited to passing each other at parties, walking around campus, or cheering for each other’s teams from the sidelines. It wasn’t until junior year that their paths truly aligned. Their mutual interest became clear through their close teammates who were also dating at the time. From there, April and Michael began spending more time together—grabbing food at campus spots and enjoying small dates.

As they spent more time together, April’s bubbly personality and Michael’s laid-back demeanor proved to be the perfect match and their connection quickly grew. In 2018, during senior year, April spent a semester abroad in Brazil. Despite the distance and time zone challenges, late-night calls kept them close and strengthened their relationship. When she returned back to campus, it felt as though no time had passed and they picked up right where they left off.

After graduating from La Salle University, April and Michael moved in together in Philadelphia before taking another big step: buying their first home in Cherry Hill, NJ. In August 2023, Michael proposed at the Camden Waterfront with the Philadelphia skyline as their backdrop—a perfect nod to the city where their love story began. They are grateful for the friends and family who supported them along the way and can’t wait to celebrate their love while creating even more unforgettable memories.
