One of my favorite places, you can be here at this national park for a couple hours or do longer hikes to see the city from up top. You have to buy your day pass online. Things to do here include various hiking trails or you can get a car to drop you off all the way to the top and hike down or take quick photo at one of the view point locations on the sides of the pavement road on the way up.

You can spend some time here walking around this urban park that was a former steel and iron foundry. People sell food here there's small snack vendors, there is gardens here with lights and water fountains, theres a small zoo, zipline, boat ride that can take you to the Mexican History museum which I highly recommend checking out.
This is a really cool museum with lots to see, in multiple floors in the building going down the timeline. Even if you aren't into history nor like to read a lot there are plenty of prehispanic artifacts maps to look at still. You can not take food or water inside and will be told to leave your water bottle outside in a shelf.
This is a place to come get coffee or check out some restaurants. It has a park area for kids, and some shopping. This is in San Pedro, a bit more on the west side but it's generally safer especially at night if you want to eat out.
Another outdoor shopping area with restaurants and a large shopping mall on the other side of the highway, except a bit further south closer to Santiago.
You'll see this on the main highway between Monterrey/San Pedro to Santiago, this is a place where you're going to find street food, alot of art and handmade crafts with some furniture aswell.
an old preserved town surrounding a big church this is a very nice place to visit during the day or at night, there is a few spots to eat and a park in front, some times of the week there are a few vendors selling crafts.
If you want to drive up to a pavement path that leads you to a short walkable giant waterfall this is further up the mountain but many taxis and Ubers should be able to take you up there. This is really close to where we stay in Santiago and probably the furthest place from Monterrey and San Pedro.
This is further out but if you want to see some wild animals up close, this is a nice safari style tour.
