Harrisburg's Broad Street Market, a staple of the capital city's historic offerings for more than 200 years offers the best of PA's bounty. One of the longest-running farmer's markets in the USA, locally grown produce, artisans and more are on offer. Note that the Market experienced a severe fire several years ago, and re-construction is on-going, however a temporary tent structure is currently in use while the affected building (one of two) is restored.
One of our favorite downtown Harrisburg hot-spots, The Midtown Scholar Bookstore & Cafe, is housed in a renovated 1920's movie theater, which became Harrisburg's first split-level department store in the 1950s and is now a vibrant community meeting place in Pennsylvania's capital city. Named one of "America's Great Independent Bookstores" Midtown Scholar will transport your senses to a time gone by. It's located directly across the street from the Broad Street Market and is open daily from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm.
This enchanting formal gardens is adjacent to historic Hotel Hershey, and features open-air and indoor gardens as well as The Butterfly Atrium. Open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm.
Tröeg's Brewery, established in 1996, has become the most recognizable name in Pennsylvania craft beers. Located just beyond Hersheypark and the Tanger Outlet Mall on Hersheypark Drive, the brewery is open 7 days a week from 11:00 am (closing times vary by day). Enjoy their tasting room, snack bar and General Store during your visit. Note that parking is limited, and car-pooling is encouraged. Reservations are not accepted, seating is on a first-come basis. Chocolate World (a 30-min. interactive ride-through experience) is located at 101 Chocolate World Way, and is open daily at 9:00 am, and free to the public!
The Sweetest Place on Earth! This fun family theme park is open Saturdays & Sundays during October, including special haunting treats during Hersheypark Halloween, from 10:00 am - 10:00 pm. Discount tickets are available at all local Giant supermarkets.
The Hershey Story Museum is open from 9:00 am - 5:00 pm daily, featuring all of the amazing innovations and the back-story on the development of the world-famous chocolate brand, along with a presentation of the philanthropical Milton S. Hershey and all he created for his namesake town. They also offer tastings and chocolate workshops, each does carry an additional fee on top of the museum admission. Calling all bargain hunters - time for some retail therapy! This open-air mall is adjacent to Hersheypark, just off Hersheypark Drive. It features all of your favorite brand-name stores at incredible savings. Open from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm.
