Together we made it through me getting into nursing school, crying through all the stress and being a moody brat from long study sessions with my classmates. During the final semester of nursing school Grant got promoted to Captain and promised we could start looking for a bigger place. A couple of months later, after a small time house hunting we bought a beautiful house across town. We didn't know what to do with all the space but we were in love with our new nest. Shortly after we got our sweet boy Maverick from Belen, NM. Everyday he brought and continues to bring so much joy and laughter to our lives. Getting our puppy was one of the best decisions we ever made together, after deciding to get married of course ;)
Life was really falling into place, but one thing was lingering after four years...an engagement. I passed my nursing boards and be came a Registered Nurse. I felt like life couldn't get any better...but it did. I attended my very first Nurses' Gala and when I got home I ran upstairs and got out of my dress and shoes, threw my hair up and came downstairs to eat a late dinner with Grant. Completely oblivious, I started to play with Maverick and felt a ring on his bandana around his neck. My eyes got big and I looked up at Grant in complete shock...he got down on one knee right in the middle our living room and asked me to marry him. He slipped his Grandma Lundquist's ring on my finger and gave me a big hug and kiss. At that very moment I knew that all my dreams had come true, and I was the luckiest girl in the world. Now we are here planning the biggest day of our lives.
God has blessed us with love, laughter and learning in our relationship. We cannot wait to share our special love with you on such a special day.
Grant and I met four years ago during Cinco de Mayo weekend in Santa Fe, New Mexico just a couple of streets down from where our wedding ceremony will be. He came into a local bar, sat one stool away from me (even though there was about ten other stools). He ordered a beer and was pretty fixated on what ever sport was playing on TV (Grant loves everything sports).
We started our conversation with him telling me that he just came from a date...that I am guessing didn't end well (it was pretty early in the night). We had great chemistry from the second we started our conversation. By the end of the night I had his number and he gave me the biggest, tightest hug good night. We set up a date a couple days later and the rest was history.
