Our Wedding

It all started at a wedding! Ari’s friend and former study abroad roommate Brigitte was getting married to Chris’s cousin Danny in Milwaukee. On the dance floor at the reception Chris noticed Ari and thought “I have to dance with that girl”. Later in the night Ari noticed a cute, tall guy dancing near her and thought it was very chivalrous when he warned her of some broken glass nearby (her heels were off by this point). Chris and Ari kept dancing the rest of the reception ending in a slow dance to “Closing Time” where Chris finally introduced himself “hi I’m Chris, I’m Dan’s cousin, and I’m 30” to which Ari replied “hi I’m Ari, I’m Brigitte’s roommate from abroad, and I’m 28.”   As the reception was ending the Bride strongly encouraged both Chris and Ari to join a group that was headed on a party bus to keep the night going (thanks Brige!). Chris and Ari started talking on the bus and continued at the bar the group ended up at, Monica’s. They spoke for hours about their mutual love for family, music, dancing and most importantly soccer. By the end of the night Ari had invited Chris to join her and Chloe (her friend she had taken as her plus one to the wedding) for brunch the next morning before the drive home to Minneapolis.   Ari and Chloe arrived the next morning to the brunch spot Chris had suggested (Black Sheep) to find he had bottomless mimosas and pancake battered cheese curds waiting. It was at that point Ari fell in love…with pancake battered cheese curds. They all had a great time recapping the night before with Chloe throwing in a few hints that Chris should visit Minneapolis (thanks Chlo!).   From that day forward Chris and Ari started texting every day and he did eventually come up to Minneapolis to take her on an official first date, a Carly Rae Jepson concert at the Armory. They dated long distance for 7 months before Chris decided to make the 5 hour distance 5 minutes and made the move up to the Twin Cities.   The spring and summer of 2023 was full of travel culminating in a trip to Spain featuring Ari’s and Chris’s parents, her aunt and brother and sister in law. Ari was excited to show Chris some of her favorite cities and it was in her absolute favorite one, Granada, that he proposed!
