They met the way so many modern love stories begin — on the online dating app, Hinge. A simple right swipe led to a conversation, and after a little convincing from Anthony, Ariel gave him her phone number. That small decision quickly changed both of their lives. They wasted no time setting up a date for the very next day at Blanchard’s Coffee.

An inside joke was born before they even sat down: Anthony was “late” to the date and showed up very apologetic for being one minute behind. Little did Anthony know, the tables would soon turn on who would be the late one! But from the moment they met, there was an undeniable spark. Everything felt right. That same day, Anthony rushed home to tell his sister and brother-in-law that he had met someone incredibly special.

Eager not to waste any time, Anthony asked Ariel out again — the very next day. He almost blew it by suggesting a 4:30 PM dinner on a Sunday, unintentionally making Ariel suspicious that he might have another date lined up (he didn’t!) — at a time usually reserved for the senior citizen discount. Luckily, Ariel gave him the benefit of the doubt and requested to push dinner back to 5:30 PM — and that dinner led to an amazing evening. They walked around Scott’s Addition afterward, found the perfect bench to sit on under a beautiful tree, and shared their first kiss — a moment they will never forget.

The true test came when Ariel’s pup, Margarita, met Anthony’s dogs, Olive and Louie. Admittedly, this was a huge checkbox — and soon enough, they were trading evenings at each other’s homes. Ariel’s incredible cooking — something she takes great pride in — became a staple of their time together. To this day, Anthony thinks she makes the most delicious meals and the sweetest baked treats.

Their connection deepened through countless shared experiences: bonding over a love for family, friends, music, exercise, nature, discovering new restaurants, biking, concerts, and spontaneous nights dancing at shows — including the time Anthony tricked Ariel into thinking he didn’t dance when heading to their first show together, only to surprise her that evening with his best dance moves. Their mutual love for their families, dogs, passions, and dreams laid the foundation for something profound.

They’ve always naturally taken care of each other — supporting career decisions, life choices, and dreams for the future. In June 2024, they took another big step: Ariel moved in with Anthony. She made the huge decision to leave behind her beloved apartment — a piece of herself — to put their relationship first. With the help of friends and family, Anthony moved her in while Ariel, true to form, was busy working. (A running joke between them: Ariel is always working, traveling, cooking, baking — rarely stationary.)

Then came the day that changed everything: October 12, 2024 — their engagement. With a little help from their friend Brenn, Anthony planned a surprise at Luray Caverns, where he got down on one knee and asked Ariel to marry him. It was a day full of happiness and love — Ariel’s parents and sister traveled up from North Carolina to surprise her, alongside Anthony’s parents, siblings, and some of their close friends. They capped it off with a beautiful celebration at Carter Mountain and, later, a feast at Anthony’s parents’ home.

Planning a wedding hasn’t come without its challenges, but they know every moment will be worth it — not only because it marks the beginning of their life together, but also because it brings all their closest friends and family to one beautiful place to witness their union of love. Nothing beats a lifetime with your best friend, your biggest supporter, and the love of your life.

And this is only the beginning!
