A great spot to access for a walk in the ocean breeze and easy access to the beautiful beach!
A local institution that has been around since 1939! The best fresh donuts on the planet and only available during the high season at the boardwalk, but lucky our wedding is during open season. There is always an impressive line of folks waiting to place their order. Britts only takes cash so come prepared!
Fun Fact: Growing up, Alex worked at Britts for 8 years during their open season! Alex's favorite drink to pair with his Britt's donuts is pink lemonade.
Historic downtown Wilmington has many shops to explore and restaurants to enjoy. Historic downtown sits on the eastern shore of the Cape Fear river and the Wilmington riverwalk is a great place to take in fresh air and beautiful views of the river.
Also known to locals as the "North End". Locals come to Freeman Park to explore the sands with their 4 wheelers and 4 wheel drive vehicles as well as camp and spend time by the ocean. If you take a car on the beach here you will NEED a vehicle with 4 wheel drive or someone will have to tow you back out to the road. You can park at the North End Pier or simple enjoy the views of the North End from the High Tide Lounge located at the Carolina Beach Pier.
There is beach access from the pier with a parking lot with reasonable rates.
Several trails to explore including the Flytrap trail where Venus flytraps can be seen in their natural habitat!
Pro Tip: Take along some bug spray to make for comfortable adventuring.
Fun Fact: This area of the country is the only place Venus flytraps grow naturally!
One of our favorite breweries in historic downtown Wilmington. Try a Teach's Peaches. You won't regret it!
Fun Fact: This was were Alex and Ariel went on their second date!
Cheers!
