Surprise!&nbsp;We&nbsp;actually&nbsp;met&nbsp;on&nbsp;Hinge.&nbsp;We&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;tell&nbsp;many&nbsp;people&nbsp;at&nbsp;first&nbsp;because&nbsp;dating&nbsp;apps&nbsp;can&nbsp;still&nbsp;feel&nbsp;a&nbsp;little&nbsp;taboo,&nbsp;but&nbsp;if&nbsp;there&nbsp;was&nbsp;ever&nbsp;proof&nbsp;that&nbsp;they&nbsp;work,&nbsp;it’s&nbsp;this&nbsp;wedding.&nbsp;Times&nbsp;are&nbsp;changing,&nbsp;and&nbsp;one&nbsp;of&nbsp;Ariel’s&nbsp;favorite&nbsp;couples&nbsp;met&nbsp;online&nbsp;too,&nbsp;so&nbsp;she&nbsp;figured&nbsp;it&nbsp;was&nbsp;worth&nbsp;a&nbsp;shot. Ariel&nbsp;downloaded&nbsp;the&nbsp;app&nbsp;with&nbsp;the&nbsp;intention&nbsp;of&nbsp;finding&nbsp;something&nbsp;serious,&nbsp;but&nbsp;kept&nbsp;things&nbsp;casual&nbsp;and&nbsp;low&nbsp;pressure.&nbsp;She’d&nbsp;check&nbsp;it&nbsp;every&nbsp;so&nbsp;often,&nbsp;see&nbsp;who&nbsp;liked&nbsp;her,&nbsp;and&nbsp;casually&nbsp;swipe.&nbsp;While&nbsp;there&nbsp;were&nbsp;plenty&nbsp;of&nbsp;profiles,&nbsp;there&nbsp;was&nbsp;one&nbsp;person&nbsp;who&nbsp;stood&nbsp;out.&nbsp;Eventually,&nbsp;Ariel&nbsp;was&nbsp;the&nbsp;one&nbsp;who&nbsp;liked&nbsp;him,&nbsp;and&nbsp;yes,&nbsp;he&nbsp;checked&nbsp;every&nbsp;box. Jake&nbsp;was&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;app&nbsp;because&nbsp;he&nbsp;was&nbsp;looking&nbsp;for&nbsp;a&nbsp;real&nbsp;partner,&nbsp;but&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;do&nbsp;it&nbsp;differently.&nbsp;He&nbsp;didn’t&nbsp;want&nbsp;to&nbsp;“proximity&nbsp;date."&nbsp;No&nbsp;coworkers,&nbsp;no&nbsp;friends&nbsp;of&nbsp;friends,&nbsp;and&nbsp;no&nbsp;classmates.&nbsp;He&nbsp;wanted&nbsp;to&nbsp;meet&nbsp;someone&nbsp;completely&nbsp;outside&nbsp;his&nbsp;usual&nbsp;circle,&nbsp;so&nbsp;much&nbsp;so&nbsp;that&nbsp;he&nbsp;even&nbsp;changed&nbsp;his&nbsp;dating&nbsp;location&nbsp;from&nbsp;Exeter&nbsp;to&nbsp;Visalia&nbsp;to&nbsp;widen&nbsp;the&nbsp;search.&nbsp; Their&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;quickly&nbsp;turned&nbsp;into&nbsp;what&nbsp;Ariel&nbsp;lovingly&nbsp;refers&nbsp;to&nbsp;as&nbsp;an&nbsp;“interview,”&nbsp;because&nbsp;she&nbsp;does&nbsp;not&nbsp;believe&nbsp;in&nbsp;wasting&nbsp;time.&nbsp;One&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;early&nbsp;questions?&nbsp;“How&nbsp;do&nbsp;you&nbsp;deal&nbsp;with&nbsp;your&nbsp;emotions&nbsp;when&nbsp;you’re&nbsp;angry?”&nbsp;(Very&nbsp;normal&nbsp;first&nbsp;date&nbsp;conversation.)&nbsp;Luckily,&nbsp;Jake&nbsp;passed&nbsp;with&nbsp;flying&nbsp;colors.&nbsp;One&nbsp;like&nbsp;turned&nbsp;into&nbsp;many&nbsp;dates,&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;laughs,&nbsp;and&nbsp;eventually,&nbsp;this&nbsp;wedding.
