Long Distance Can Work!

Matthew and I go way back—like middle school. We knew of each other but somehow never actually knew each other. Fast forward to 2021, and we randomly reconnected on social media. We both were knee-deep in healthcare careers (because we’re basically modern-day heroes), and bam, instant bonding.

At the time, I was living in North Carolina, so our first date had to wait until I was back in Georgia visiting family. And here’s the kicker: I didn’t even realize it was a date until after it happened! So, there I was, looking like I was about to hop on a horse, not go on a date. If that doesn’t scream “romantic,” I don’t know what does.

For the next two years, we became pros at long-distance dating, alternating between visiting each other and having FaceTime dates. Not exactly the same as Netflix and chill in person, but we made it work.

Then, in 2023, Matthew landed a fantastic job in Braselton. By then, I was head-over-heels for the guy, so I decided to pack up and move back to Georgia. We bought our dream home in October that year, and of course, in the most romantic way possible (no pressure, right?), he proposed the following year. I said yes, very tearfully, and very quickly—probably in record time.

Now, I get to wake up with Matthew every day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m just here for the rest of our lives together… and the occasional horse-riding outfit mishap.
