I (Ashlee) opened Facebook to see a post that said something along the short lines of "This is Steven: good guy, hard worker, and single." There was a picture of him included in the post and I thought to myself "damn he's good lookin!" So I messaged the girl that made the post and told her I'd love to meet Steven. So I did just that- I messaged him and after a week of talking we decided to meet face to face. It was instant attraction and connection. I messaged the girl that had made the post and I told her we met and that it went good! She had said "After checking out your profile and seeing that you post funny TikToks and you seem goofy, I thought you guys would be great!" Great is an understatement. Steven and I developed a bond right away, and have not strayed from it at all. We moved fast, and to some it may have been out of the norm but it was perfect for us. We met face to face after a week of talking on the phone non stop, on October 1st we decided to make us "officially" a couple, October 7th the first 'I love you' bomb was dropped, October 20th we were living together, and March 15th we were officially engaged!
On October 7th last year Steven and I had taken our kids, that live in Iowa, to the pumpkin patch at Deal's Orchard in Jefferson. We went to the corn maze, and we lost the kids! We walked for quite some time (we could hear them, so they weren't really truly lost) and finally I decided to take a short little break and just soak in the moment of a fun day with our first family outing. So there we were, lost in the middle of this corn maze- and I said I love you. It was the first time either one of us had said it, and I was so nervous! We had a little make out sesh, and then continued on our corn maze and the rest of our fun day! Ever since then, our love has gotten bigger and crazier by the day!
Prior to March 15th, we had talked about marriage but we were both skeptical for our own reasons. I told Steven if we get married, I want to do it September 7th, and I asked him while he was over the road for Texas that week to just think about it. I don't need a for sure decision, but to think about it. The day of March 15th Steven returned home from Texas. We had gone to run some errands. While we were at Best Buy I saw a card game called "The Couple's Game- That's actually fun". I got it, and later that night we played it. The card game includes two whiteboards for you to write your answers on. We read a card that said "What's the craziest thing we've done". Steven said he wasn't sure, we haven't really gone out and done anything really crazy yet! But, he wrote his answer, and when we flipped our boards around to see each others answers his white board said "Getting married September 7th". I was in disbelief, but it was the cutest idea!
