Brennen and I met in the sun-soaked swirl of campus life at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. A place where people come and go through hallways and classrooms, but somehow the two of us paused long enough to really notice each other that fateful day in the cafeteria.

From the start, Brennen had this funny, nerdy charm that immediately clicked with me. Maybe it was the way he talked, maybe it was the energy he carried, or maybe it was the simple fact that he played Magic: The Gathering. (A green flag if there ever was one.) While others might have overlooked those nerdy details, I saw them as special, endearing.

What I didn't know at the time was that I made just as strong of an impression on him. Brennen says I'm stuck in his head from day one. Not in a passing, "oh, they seem cool" kind of way, but in that quiet, magnetic way where someone walks into your life and immediately feels significant. His mind couldn't quite let go of me after that first moment.

So there we were: two people crossing paths at a community college in Prescott, one thinking "he's funny and nerdy and totally my kind of person," and the other thinking "I'm not forgetting her anytime soon." And without either of us realizing it, that was the beginning, just the first page of a story.
