Did you Book a Hotel?

They met at Columbia Hills Golf & Swim Club Summer of 2014. Max was the Golf Course&nbsp;Superintendent and Ashley was the Clubhouse Executive Assistant.&nbsp;&nbsp;They stumbled upon each other at the course board meetings, and &nbsp;secretly crushed on each other for weeks. Cue the "awes" and "blushing.&nbsp;On one&nbsp;particular day Max and Ashley finally spoke to each other, and without wasting a moment Max asked Ashley if she would grab drinks with him after work.&nbsp; Being several months from turning 21, Ashley asked him to wait a few months, but Max was confident they could have a great time before she turned 21. What did he have up his sleeve?

How they Met

Max and Ashley's first date was a secret...gasp! They met at the golf course just before dusk . Max strolled in with a cooler, a blanket, and his golf cart to whisk her away for an evening that kicked off the greatest love story to be told. Okay, we're being dramatic, but it is their greatest love story.&nbsp; It was a perfect evening filled with laughter, lots of smiles, but no kiss. Oooohh how long will they wait?!



The next first date, Max decided to&nbsp;spoof it up&nbsp;and picked Ashley up for a dinner date. He&nbsp;arrived in a red Ford&nbsp;pickup truck and Ashley couldn't contain her excitement to go out with a guy in a red pickup truck... it was already going perfectly! The end of their evening was like a romantic comedy where you just want the couple to kiss already. At first they hugged goodnight and walked away, but just as the movies would have it...Max reached out grabbed Ashley and pulled her in for their first kiss! Ladies and gentlemen&nbsp;it was perfect.

First Date(s)

Since their first dates, Max and Ashley have been inseparable. Growing closer and closer through moments like&nbsp;graduation, job changes, city moves, weddings, funerals, births, and&nbsp;the adoption of their spoiled Eva the Diva!&nbsp;Family is very important to both Max and Ashley, so holidays and traditions became shared moments of joy teaching each other about their family loved ones, and new and old traditions.&nbsp;With all the fun of learning about each other, growing together, and making lifetime memories, Max and Ashley flashed through 5 years together!

The In Between

April 27, 2019 -&nbsp; I'll warn you that there are ALOT of signs in this story, but Ashley was not picking up on any of them..here we go!

Ashley had been away for work, Easter, and hometown events for about a month now, and was so excited to drive back 'home'&nbsp;to see Max and Eva the Diva! Leading up to the day her mom and sister had been "spring shopping" to update the wardrobes, but secretly they were picking out the perfect engagement outfit for Ashley.&nbsp;&nbsp;Her parents&nbsp; were driving down with her&nbsp; since&nbsp;they hadn't been to Lexington since she moved. So&nbsp;Max had planned a weekend of activities to show them what Lexington was all about...little did Ashley know what was really planned.&nbsp;



Upon their arrival Max had the apartment filled with vases of roses, and picture frames of their relationship over the years. Ashley was so excited she always fills the home with flowers, and had been meaning to hang pictures for so long.&nbsp;Max scheduled a&nbsp;tour of the Kentucky Castle in the morning&nbsp;so they had to hurry up and get ready. Ashley's mom was eager for everyone&nbsp;to get dressed up and head to the castle, conveniently looking for Ashley select one of the outfits they had been shopping for that month,&nbsp;but having gotten up so early to drive, Ashley wasn't feeling like dressing up. Let's just say she's a strong-willed gal -&nbsp;okay she's stubborn :)&nbsp;Reluctantly she agreed a shower and nice top were the least she could do, but hair, makeup, and a nice outfit would have to wait another day&nbsp;(ugh Ashley come on)!



They tour was beautiful, and while they were&nbsp;on the roof of the Castle, Ashley thought to herself how breath taking this would be for a wedding event someday. They ended the tour with a wonderful lunch, of which Ashley's dad was buying bourbon and Ashley's mom was nudging her to fix her hair and makeup. Completely oblivious to the nerves her dad was trying to calm, and the pictures her mom was preparing her for, she shrugged it off as nothing out of the ordinary even a monkey could figure it out by now).



Max pulled her away to talk to the receptionist about one of the tour gifts, and asked if they could see the roof again! You won't be surprised to hear that Ashley missed ANOTHER sign. She recalled the tour guide saying that the roof would be closed for the rest of the afternoon, but to her surprise the receptionist said yes..hmm. Ashley questioned Max as to why they had to go back to the roof, but Max successfully deterred her questioning with "My mom would love pictures of the view," and Ashley was on-board to get some shots of the view.&nbsp;They make their way up to the roof, and find that it is just the two of them with all the views to themselves (ahhh my heart is fluttering already). Being short, Ashley gets up on the picnic table to make sure she gets some of the best views of the grounds. Not thinking anything of it, Max is behind her extremely silent. She turns around sooner than he expected to find him unraveling toilet paper from his pocket (yes&nbsp;people he wrapped a beautiful ring in toilet paper).



All of a sudden something shiny is popping out of this toilet paper and Ashley FINALLY puts it all together - Max is proposing! Mom wanted her to look perfect, Dad was nervous,&nbsp; and Max was just trying to keep it all a secret.&nbsp;He looks up at her and says "Ashley will you marry me?" It will come as no surprise that Ashley's response was, "Are you going to get down on one knee?"&nbsp;



He gets down on one knee - the&nbsp;&nbsp;moment she had always been dreaming of with Max -&nbsp;he asks again "Ashley will you marry me?" Without a pause to breath, Ashley screams 'YES!" For a moment she thought she was dreaming, but the rest of the day unfolded more and more excitement, love, and family.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ashley and Max's smiles never drooped and cheeks never stopped blushing! It was the most perfect day in the most perfect way with all the most perfect imperfections.
