Our Wedding

Rene and Ashley met in Jersey City at The OLC School’s 2019 staff orientation. Both being teachers of English Language Arts (ELA), Rene asked Ashley to go to an ELA curriculum teacher’s conference in New York City. They started the day as coworkers and ended it as lovebirds. After the conference, the two went for a picnic in a park overlooking the Hudson River where they sat, talked, and got to know each other for hours. They made their way over to Chelsea Piers where they spoke about their hopes and dreams. Realizing they had quite a bit in common, they shared their first kiss on the dock at sunset. Over the course of the next few weeks, Ashley and Rene quickly became very close. They both express feeling an instant connection and comfortability with one another. As cheesy as it sounds, it just felt like it was meant to be. In the Summer of 2020, Rene and Ashley moved into their first house together. They both love being near the water, so this Laurence Harbor location was a perfect fit. They had a happy little family with their dog, London, and their cat, Griff. On July 1st, 2022, Rene told Ashley he was taking her on a dinner cruise to celebrate her birthday. At sunset on the water between Jersey City and New York (a tribute to the start of their relationship) Rene proposed. This took Ashley by complete surprise. Leading up to this–and until Ashley’s birthday on July 7th–Rene had been giving Ashley one note each day with reasons as to why he loves her. Throughout their relationship, Rene and Ashley have truly grown together, both as individuals and as a couple. They have taken horseback riding lessons and dance lessons together. They enjoy doing archery, running, and doing puzzles together. Their personalities both balance and compliment each other. They are twin flames glowing brighter with each passing moment they spend together.
