Greg and Ashley met on a cool Kansas City night in January. Ashley had rallied her friends to a wine tasting which later moved to a local bar with a band and a killer dance floor. Greg started out the night with a group of friends, but him and another friend ended up wondering off into the same bar.
While up on the rooftop of the bar, Greg and Ashley's friends had started randomly talking and told them they should talk because they were both from St.Louis. Being from St.Louis, the obvious question was where did you go to high school? When they realized their schools were near by, they kept going to see where the other lived... next thing you know Greg is asking Ashley if she knows about the street she grew up on! Turns out, Greg and Ashley lived in the same (40 house) neighborhood for over 10 years! Ashley could not believe it and made Greg show her his ID, (neither of them had changed their addresses even with living in KC for over a year.) They continued to talk during the night, exchanged numbers and the rest is history!
Fast forward two and a half years past all the little dates, adventures, and living across the country from each other to September of 2016. They had decided instead of giving each other presents for birthdays, they would travel somewhere together. For Greg's birthday, they were on their way to Orlando to spend a few days in Universal Studios and check out Harry Potter World! The first day in the park was so much fun, if not a little overwhelming. As they made their way back to the hotel for the night Greg suggested they go out to dinner. Ashley was a little worn down from the excitement of the day, but agreed. Once at the hotel, Ashley went to freshen up while, unknown to her, Greg did a little prepping for the night as well. When she walked out of the bathroom, Greg had set up a trail of cray paper and flowers to the balcony. On the balcony there was a wand, a light, and Greg down on one knee. Greg started saying sweet things (that Ashley may or may not remember fully...) and then realized the light was coming from a ring box that held the most beautiful ring Ashley could imagine. Needless to say, Greg proposed and Ashley said yes!
