Our Wedding

Nelson and Ashley were brought together by God through a series of timely events. Ashley had just moved to New York and was living in the Bed Stuy area of Brooklyn. Nelson had also just relocated from his home of the Bronx to Queens. Both lived near stops of the J train which would become their preferred way of connecting and exploring. Trips around New York City and frequent visits to The Metroplitan Museum would cement their love and admiration for one another in addition to nights-in over movies and soul food or takeout Chinese. They would eventually begin to share with one another their favorite art forms from music to writing to photography. Life would continue to surprise them, parting their paths temporarily until they were ready to share a life. Reconnecting was followed by the birth of their beautiful baby girl Mandela Rose Nash Baltazar. God’s grace, the prayers of their family and friends would sustain them through the duration of her hospital stay. Ashley and Nelson would visit her daily, cheering her on from the Ronald McDonald Homes sideline. The time would come for them to take her home and that they did. New parents in search of community, they moved to Los Angeles where they shared a home with Ashley’s parents, Rosa and Michael, grandmother, Granny Kyser and dog, Bruno. Months of rebuilding would spark a deeper love for one another, leading to a proposal of marriage and a court wedding ceremony. Ashley and Nelson would become “The Baltazars” just weeks ahead of moving into their for-now home. The couple continues to celebrate God’s intention for their lives, shared with one another and Mandela. Thank you for joining them in their celebration by attending their wedding ceremony and reception. Your continued love and support are greatly appreciated.
