It was our first time to Augusta National Golf Club for the Master’s Golf Tournament. Brandon, although he could go every year through his PGA employment at the time, he waited until the time when Ashley was through with all her schooling and could accompany him there.

We flew into Georgia on Thursday to meet with some other people we knew from Michigan that were going to be there and to celebrate Ashley’s birthday. Everything was going well; except for Brandon knew that Ashley didn’t have a ticket to the event at this point. The weekend went on and Brandon was getting more and more anxious trying to find a reasonable priced ticket for Ashley to get into the event on Sunday; knowing that his plan relied on getting her into the event.

Sunday morning came and we left our AirBnB in South Carolina early to take off towards Augusta. On the way there, we made the decision to just purchase a ticket as we were already there and it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. So, with Ashley’s ticket purchased and Tiger Woods in contention, we made our way to Augusta.

In the months prior, Brandon had attempted using his PGA contacts to gain access to some of the iconic bridges at Augusta National for the proposal. He had talked to both PGA Head Golf Professionals, but with no luck.

The alternate site was in front of the clubhouse where they already had professional photographers to take guests’ pictures. We stood in line for a little over an hour or so, Brandon with his plan well rehearsed. As we are making our way towards the front of the line, everyone in line goes crazy, and sure enough….another couple is getting engaged! Brandon makes a joke about it to try to deflect that this is what he is about to do. We are 3 people away from our picture getting taken and once again, another proposal! Brandon made another joke to take her mind off what is happening. It’s our turn and as the photographer tells us where to stand, Brandon took the knee and asked for her hand in marriage.
