Like many Gen Z relationships, it all started with a swipe. In the midst of the COVID lockdowns in 2020 Ashley and I turned to the same place to find something to fill our time; Tinder . Both of us floating through uncertain times with neither of us knowing we would find the rest of our lives with a simple swipe right, or in my case a very valuable SUPER Swipe right.Maybe it wasn’t the most romantic first meeting, but it was perfectly us. On mother’s day weekend in May 2020 with the world shut down, we decided we would meet in the parking lot of Chick fil A. With Ash having just left Herkimer community college in the middle of an incredible track season throwing shot put, and with me working a Pepperidge Farm route in Watertown NY we were in totally different spots in life. Ash and I met in the parking lot on that fateful Saturday thinking the same thing, we really enjoyed talking to each other but could this be something more? I will never forget the moment of Ash calling me trying to find me sitting in the parking lot, and watching her walk over to my car for the very first time. In the following three hours of sitting in my car, while watching the lunch rush at Chick-fil-A turn into the dinner rush Ash and I talked about everything. We were deeply honest with each other, where we were in our lives and where we hoped to go one day.It didn’t take long for the two of us to realize that our three hour parking lot conversation was going to lead to something more. The next weekend Ash drove the 72 miles from Solvay to Watertown to visit me in my first apartment.We started dating after that first weekend, and have spent the last 5 years constantly by each other’s side. Countless Florida trips, weekends at Camp, hundreds of hours in the car riding back and forth from Watertown to see our families. We have truly been best friends and soulmates. We have been through our share of great times and we’ve cried on each other’s shoulders in the bad times. There’s truly no one else in this world I want to go through life with.This past summer on a weekend trip to Stowe Vermont we got engaged, on top of a mountain on the Vonn Trapp property. 2 weeks later we took a trip up to our favorite place, Lake placid to tour our wedding venue!In May of 2025 we moved from Watertown back to Syracuse to be closer to family, the 65 mile drive soon became a trip down the street to see our families. In September we moved into our apartment in Camillus, within the first few weeks it already felt more like home than Watertown ever did! The year leading up to our wedding has already gone by so fast, we are so excited to share our love with our family and friends in one of our favorite places!

Our favorite date-night spot on the way to Lake Placid — Chad swears by the Chicken Parmesan and Ashley can’t get enough of the shrimp fra diavolo. Cozy atmosphere and reliably the best Italian in the ADKs.

A must-see for sports fans and history buffs alike: visit Herb Brooks Arena, where the 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team won gold. Tour the arena, explore the small museum exhibits, and stand where history was made—just a short walk from downtown Lake Placid. Family-friendly and inspiring for all ages!
