Yep, you read that right! Matt and I are one of the few and far between couples that actually MATCHED on Tinder! We matched sometime in January 2020 and I actually stopped talking with Matt because he lived in Bellevue, WA and I lived in Seattle, WA. I thought Bellevue was too far from me and I didn't want to get something started just to see it fail.

Well... that didn't stop Matt. He reached out to me through Tinder several weeks later on the night of the Superbowl. I think it might have been the one year where I didn't have plans for the Superbowl, and I was just sitting at home by myself. We ended up talking to each other through the app for the entire game! Later on that night, I asked if he wanted to talk on the phone because we were getting along so great! & HE SAID YES! We ended up talking on the phone for probably 4 more hours until the wee hours of night. We talked every night on the phone for that whole week for hours at a time. We were very different, but he was so sweet and I couldn't believe the butterflies I would get just seeing his name pop up on my phone.

After our first date, we saw each other nearly every single day. His house was only a 15 minute drive from my work so I was either spending the night there or he was spending the night at my house. Just a month later, COVID-19 became serious and Washington had a state of emergency in place. Matt and I decided to stay together for what we thought would only be two weeks. We couldn't fathom being apart for so long. My mom was also having serious health issues with her recently diagnosed breast cancer, and Matt truly was my saving grace.

Six months later, the pandemic was continuing to affect everyone in WA state, so we were still quarantining together. We finally got another apartment with my best friend, Amara, so that we weren't sharing a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment for the three of us. Honestly I think most of our family and friends thought we were off our rockers for moving so quickly in our relationship, but what else were we to do in the middle of a pandemic?!

About a year later, Matthew and I made the decision to move to Florida. We were tired of struggling financially in the city, we were tired of the cold and rain, and honestly we just needed a fresh change! Matt had family on the East Coast and my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew all lived in Jacksonville. Thus it was DECIDED! We made the leap Summer of 2021! I moved into management at a nonprofit in Jax and Matt switched careers from engineering to real estate!

Since moving to Florida, we have had lots of ups and downs. We have grown tremendously, both personally and professionally. Matt and I have established such an AMAZING community of friends here, we brought home our border collie, Brodie, and we continue to explore and chase new experiences like TLC has been chasing waterfalls!

We got engaged in December 2022, and we canNOT wait for our next chapter as husband and wife. We are still living in Jacksonville, and we recently moved into our first house together. I am working full time as a mental health clinical supervisor, licensed in about 10 different states now. Matthew continues to work for Equity Pro as an REI Advisor, working with investors and doing whole sale. We have lots of goals and dreams that we continue to work towards, and can't wait to see what the future holds for us!
