He was a pilot, and she was a frequent flyer.. at least that’s the story we’ve gone with. Truth be told, us meeting online was extremely complex, complicated, and downright crazy. Nearly impossible circumstances brought us together not once but twice via Facebook chat over football, cars, and funny last names. Fun facts: we both prefer waffles, and I’m not a gang member... anymore.
We were divided by 2700 miles, but connected at heart and three months into our constant 6+ hour phone calls and facetime chats, I finally convinced Tyler to let me visit him in Georgia. Ya know, so we could make sure we both weren’t being catfished. Haha! What a time to be alive. Any-who, my life forever changed September 10th, 2015 as we awkwardly sat across from each other that night at Cheddars. Our first official date was the next day at Turner Field in Atlanta watching the Braves. They lost, but some time under those Friday night fireworks my heart was won. Like bottom of the 9th, down by 3, bases are LOADed, FREEman’s at the plate, he hits a GRAND SLAM, it’s OUTTA HERE FOLKS! Braves win! Braves win! Braves win! THE CROWD GOES WILDDDDD!!! ..kinda win... were you screaming? I was screaming! *sigh* I know, I know, cheesier than a stadium nacho, but you get the point.
A few days later, Tyler came to Oregon where he asked me to be his girlfriend on, you guested it, September 22. BAM. That was that. Skip forward through highs, lows, good times, hard times, adventures, Braves games, Falcons games, movies, zoo trips, cruises, mandatory family fun, Downton Abbey accents, Royal family obsessions, Disney world, Harry Potter marathons, Universal Studios, & millions of little moments in between.. to exactly three years and one month later, (he keeps me on my toes, that one) he got down on one knee at sunset while sharing a milkshake and asked me to be his best friend for the rest of our lives. I said yes. Then he told me we weren’t the “climb to the top of the mountain” type. HA! He ain’t wrong though! Whatta romantic, that guy.
In all seriousness, this journey has been a wonderful and beautiful and crazy adventure. We are so blessed and thankful for our families and friends that have supported us throughout the years and we look forward to our future together.
We can’t wait to celebrate & do life with y’all!
Big love and hugs, Tyler and Ashley
