Our Wedding

John proposed to Ashley while they were skiing in Crested Butte, CO. It was a snowy March 28th, 2015 when John started to pull something out of his pocket to Ashley's surprise. They had been skiing all day on freshly fallen snow in less than ideal temperatures when they arrived at Uley's Cabin, an outside ice bar on the ski hill. At Uley's Cabin they were celebrating Uley's birthday with a bluegrass band and party hats. John and Ashley were enjoying libations when John pulled a wooden box from his ski coat. Ashley noticed immediately and asked "What is that, what are you doing?" John dropped on one knee and asked "Will You Marry Me?" Ashley agreed without much hesitation, and bragged to the nearby strangers that she had just gotten engaged. They pretended to care, but their faces conveyed otherwise. Once Ashley stopped crying, they took a selfie on the mountain and skied down to go eat some food.

Spring brings mild temperatures, fluffy white snows and showers to feed the wildflowers. Runoff fills the rivers, bull elk and buck deer drop their antlers, spotted fawns and calves are hidden in the new green foliage and bighorn sheep graze right along the roadsides. There is not a single month of the year which is historically snow-free. On the other hand, there is not a single month in which we do not have picnic lunches outdoors in the warm sun.What to wear at this time of year? Layers, layers, layers. March and April are our biggest snow months. Not the cold winter snows but the big, wet spring snow. Sunny days, you could be in shirt sleeves, sweatshirt or jacket. Snow boots could come in handy, especially in March and April. A warm coat will be good for evenings. This establishment was recently purchased by The Stanley Hotel.John and Ashley are staying at the Mary's Lake Vacation Condos Thursday-.Monday morning. If you are travelling in a group, the most economical way to get to Estes Park from Denver International Airport is to freeload off of someone else. If that option fails, then your next best bet is to rent a car at the airport.

Mary's Lake Lodge will run a shuttle bus to and from the ceremony on the day of the wedding. This bus holds 14 people, so seats will be reserved for guests who do not have access to a car.
