You know the saying "Love will find you when you least expect it." I am a firm believer in that now. Spring break of my Junior year at Texas Tech I decided, instead of heading down to the beach with friends, I would spend the week with my family in my hometown of Blanco, little did I know that was one of the best decision I could have ever made.
While I was in town my cousin Chris invited me to one of his friends annual birthday bashes, which many of you know as "March Birthdays," I was very hesitant to go but decided I would take my dad along for the ride since my uncle would be there as well. Once we arrived we talked in the driveway for a bit, until a group of gentlemen strolled up to us to chat. It was in that moment that I immediately knew I was in trouble!
You know how every girl has "A Type", well mine was standing right in front of me! I still, to this day, remember exactly what he was wearing, khaki shorts, dark blue collard shirt with light blue stripes and a khaki hat with an odd looking blue bird on it (that hat has since conveniently disappeared ;).) We spoke for a little bit and then I asked whose birthday it was and of course Mr. My Type was also the birthday boy. He smiled ever so sweetly, shook my hand and said "Well it is mighty nice to meet you!" Now you see why I knew I was in for trouble. The night went on and I spent practically every minute with this boy, from dancing, to kicking his butt at horseshoes and helping him run the table in beer pong; I even got to meet the parents (ya, moving slowly wasn't something Wes was worried about.) Wes let his parents know that they would be seeing me more often, so I let him know that the only way that was going to happen was if he called me the next day, because I was not the type of girl that played games. Sure enough, while I was headed back to good old Lubbock the next day, I got a call from Wes (I still get butterflies when I think about talking with him that Sunday.)
After that it's pretty much history! From 8 hour drives back and forth from Lubbock to umpteen thousand friends and families weddings, we have been inseparable. Sure Wes and I have had our ups and downs but no matter what, we have been right by each others side! He is my very best friend and I could not imagine my life without him right by my side!
We could not be more excited to say We Do in October!
