Passports. To obtain a passport, one must get a photo at their local Walgreens or CVS, take it to their local Post Office that offers Passport services, and submit the paperwork.

This is easy to obtain. AAA has several locations, including Manassas and Fairfax. The cost is about $100.

To rent a car in Italy, you just have to fill out a form and provide the international driver's license. Do not worry, you drive on the same side as the US and the steering wheel is on the same side. It's similar!

There are several travel options to travel to the Southern Coast of Italy. I will cover several different options for you to choose from below.

United Airlines offers flights to Rome(FCO) and Naples(NAP). From either place, you have several options to travel South to the Calabria Region and the city of Roccella Ionica.

You can take a connecting flight to Lamenzia Airport or Reggio Calabria Airport.

From Lamenzia Termie, it's a 2 hour car drive to Rocella Ionica. From Reggio Calabria Airport, it's a 1.5-hour drive. From what we know, you have a better car rental option out of Lamenzia.

You can also take a train from Rome or Naples that will bring you to Lamezia Termie. This is 5-8 hour (depending on if you take the fast train/city train) scenic train ride. The train ride does bring you past Mount Vesuvius, which is cool.

There are a couple train lines/apps. We used TrenItalia to purchase train tickets using paypal and we will use ITA Airways app for booking internal flights.

Having your own means of transportation helps with the ease of doing what you want, when you want. There are numerous shuttle services from either Lamezia or Reggio Calabria that will take you directly to the hotel. Renting a car will be the easiest way to get around.
