"We're not dating I swear Mom!"

Everyone figures that the classic falling in love story starts at a corner cafe or in the heat of a moment in a suspenseful event. For us, it all started when Ashley walked into the house I currently lived, waiting to hang out with my roommate. She wore her "comfy clothes", Chacos, and her brand new glasses that was still trying to figure out if she liked. Preston stood over the sink doing the dishes where Ashley and him started talking. Midway through the conversation, Preston says "Ashley, those glasses make you look like Harry Potter". Gentlemen, this was not the right response to say to a girl with new glasses. Ashley snapped back saying "You don't even know me, you can't say that to me!" and stormed into the family room. Needless to say, there still is hope for people who make terrible first impressions.

After many missed opportunities Preston did not take like not saving her number after texting her during the summer, an opportunity to hold her hand while watching a movie or staying up during a camping trip to talk to Ashley, he finally found some "an opportunity" to ask Ashley out.

He was planning on going on a date with another girl who he was not interested in. His plan consisted of going up to the mountains and painting the scenery on the back of his truck. As he expressed his disinterest in the idea of going with this girl, Ashley stated "well why don't you go with someone you actually like instead of this other girl". Now if any of you know Ashley, she did not accept at this time that she was interested in Preston. But Preston quickly caught on and asked Ashley out a couple of days later.

That one date went well which consisted of getting lunch the same day, going to a tailgate that night, and spending every possible moment together with each other. As the relationship progressed, two stories formed. Preston became fully committed and wanted to officially be dating. Ashely agreed, but couldn't admit that to her parents. Every time she talked to her parents, she said "We're going on dates but we're not dating. We're not that serious".

Well it got pretty serious because about two weeks later from that moment they bought plane tickets to see their families. As they met family and continued to deepen their relationship, they realized and decided to get married. On April 24th, 2021, they got engaged and now are set to be married and sealed November 18th, 2021 in the Draper Utah Temple for time and all eternity.
