Ashley and Nathan first met on the pickleball court after their mutual friend, Amy, invited both of them to play (not with the intention of setting them up). Nathan was instantly interested and made great effort to set up more fun outdoor hangouts. They went on bike rides and walks and enjoyed having conversations about hobbies, family, and faith.
Nathan hadn't dated in years and was ready to move forward with defining an exclusive relationship with Ashley, but Ashley needed more time to fully heal from a break up. Nathan was a patient man, and they came up with a percentage-based system of communication that helped keep both of them on the same page. Essentially, once Ashley felt "100%", they agreed to progress their relationship.
The dating phase was fun! They went wakesurfing, met more of each other's friends, wrote each other notes, went on walks, played even more pickleball, took plenty of trips to Dallas, went to concerts, and took a trip to Destin - all while taking more photos than most couples take during the entirety of their relationships.
The summer presented a challenge - Nathan served as the Camp Director at Shepherd's Fold Ranch and was only able to spend 1 evening a week with Ashley. This caused their conversations to have a bit more of a focus on the future.
Nathan secretly bought a ring and planned to propose on their next trip - a couples' trip to Banff, Canada.
