Ashley Meadows grew up in Maineville Ohio, most of her memorable childhood while Alex Wilt grew up in Ft. Loramie Ohio, his entire childhood. They met each other for the first time in 2017 in Dayton Ohio at Wright State University, while both studying for Early Childhoood Education. They were friends for two years until Ashley changed majors and COVID drifted them apart. The two reconnected in 2022 and began their story together. After over four years of dating and over one year engaged, they are so excited for you to join them in celebrating their union through marriage!
I'm sure I could share plenty of memories that are on my top favorite but I will share the one that comes to mind first. Alex and I were moving into our first apartment in Columbus together. I lived about 1 minute down the road and he lived in Loramie. Well a couple days before his parents and him were going to come down with the UHaul, he came to Columbus to start moving some of my stuff in with me as we had the keys early. We loaded a couple things into my car and drove the minute down, somehow in the minute it started torrential downpouring, I'm talking we were one second out of the car soaked to the bone. So we sprint into the new apartment soaked didn't grab any of the stuff and were contemplating what to do next, get soaked more to go back to my old place, or sit here in the new place that was fully empty no wifi nothing in the place at all. We started just talking about what we envisioned our apartment would look like, we walked around, talking about the airfryer could go here, we could configure the bed there, and then I just turned on music on my phone and we slow danced for a while together in the living room. I knew there and then that if we could have fun just the two of us together, soaked to the bone, no outside factors at all, then the two of us could have fun for a lifetime together.
One thing I'll always remember, is from the very beginning our relationship and still today, the effort we put in to show up for each other despite living two hours apart for our first year together and finding ourselves in new homes each summer. One memory in particular that stands out is a Thursday evening while still living apart, we were talking on the phone as always, going on hours of conversation, and Ashley saying she was ready to hang up and asked me to open the door for her. I was confused until it struck me that she meant she was at my house, two hours from where I assumed she was, waiting to surprise me! Even that small gesture, a surprise visit one day early, her presence being around me that extra amount of time, meant so much to me and still does just as much now. I've always felt happiest around her and that one extra night to spend more time together, talking in person and being with each other, made for one of my favorite memories. We are lucky to have lived together for some time now, but that effort and desire to be with each other hasn't faded one bit.
