THE WORLD’S&nbsp;<a href="http://www.atlasobscura.com/places/dali-theatre-and-museum" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">LARGEST COLLECTION OF ART BY SALVADOR DALÍ</a>&nbsp;is, logically, in his hometown of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/figueres-spain" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Figueres</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/spain" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Spain</a>. But the second-largest collection devoted to the world’s most famous surrealist is on display near the waterfront in&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/saint-petersburg-florida" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">St. Petersburg</a>,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/florida" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Florida</a>. Melting clocks, spindle-legged horses, and waxed mustaches abound, and the building itself is a surreal sight to behold.

The Dalí (Salvador Dalí Museum)

Sunken Gardens offers visitors an escape into a tropical haven of meandering paths, waterfalls, and ponds. Although relatively small, just four acres, the twisting trails and dense vegetation give the illusion of a much larger space. Sharp turns open to surprising courtyards and specialized gardens like the Cactus Garden, which includes a tortoise habitat, and the busy&nbsp;butterfly courtyard. The flamingo flock is pretty in pink, while several connected pools support an impressive koi population.

This former factory has been transformed into a technicolor wonderland, where dozens of local artists have collaborated to create a real choose-your-own-adventure experience.&nbsp;The 15,000-square-foot space in the Warehouse Arts District of&nbsp;<a href="https://www.atlasobscura.com/things-to-do/st-petersburg-florida" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">St. Pete</a>&nbsp;is a massive interactive art exhibit.

Our Favorite Part - "The Native Life gallery opens up into the Native Artists gallery (deep gold) which provides a contrast from the more traditional indigenous works you’ve likely seen before (beadwork, masks, ceremonial artworks) with more contemporary works including paintings by Earl Biss, who specializes in spotted ponies. Within the Native Artists gallery is also a smaller room called the Jewel Box. The room’s deep teal, sharp angles,&nbsp;and unusual lighting are intended to resemble the interior of a geode, ideal for displaying Mary James’ Native American jewelry collection."
