Our Best Day Ever

We had our first date at Pacifica (the wait for happy hour at The Atlantic was too long). We split apps and a bottle of wine. Neither one of us wanted the date to end. Brent suggested another drink, so we went to the Hunt Room at the Cavalier. We snagged the last two seats at the bar, and the guy next to us started buying us drinks... a lot of drinks. Cocktails and conversation were flowing. The rest is history.

You cannot come to Virginia Beach, without stopping by the Historic Cavalier Hotel. There is valet parking at the Cavalier for $5 and a parking garage across the street at the Mariott. Explore the 1920's restored hotel and read about the history. We recommend getting a beer or glass of wine in the Raleigh Room (ground floor), bring your drink and walk throughout the first floor and the lawn that overlooks the ocean. Then, head downstairs to the Hunt Room. We love getting smoked old fashions or a big glass of wine. Our first date ended in the Hunt Room (first kiss on the bar stools). The Marriot across the street has great views of the beach. The restaurant on the ground floor is Tulu. The views are great with a cocktail, although not our favorite food. On the top floor is Orien's Roof. A pricier dinner option, but has amazing views. Definitely worth getting a drink and enjoying the view from the bar/rooftop deck. (They also validate parking in their garage, bring your ticket).

Historic Cavalier Hotel

Fun fact, our first date was here (actually just down the street at their original location). They moved into this location while Ashley was still living in the apartments upstairs. Best for cocktails and tapas! The menu is always changing! We come back here every year for our date-aversary (and many more date nights in between).

Pacifica

We love the happy hour here! We were supposed to go on our first date here but the wait was way too long. Go for happy hour 7 days a week 3PM - 6PM. Make sure you get there early! Get $1 oysters and $6 burger! Cocktails are great too!!

The Atlantic on Pacific

The Shack is one of our favorite spots for day drinking and fresh squeezed orange crushes! Picnic tables, outside bars, lawn games, and casual food. Next door is Waterman Spirits, a distillery and tasting room.

One of our favorite brunch/lunch spots! Get there early! They don't accept reservations and the line gets very long. Ashley loves the breakfast sammy or crabcake benedict. Brent always gets the "one love" breakfast and makes his own breakfast tacos. We love the margaritas and sorbet mimosas! EVERYTHING IS SO GOOD!

Bay Local Eatery

Waterman's has good bar food, great seafood dinners, and fresh squeezed orange crushes! Ashley loves the parmesan-peppercorn fish of the day! Be mindful, they don't accept reservations and it gets very busy! They have valet parking. There is a cute shop by the entrance too!

Waterman's Surfside Grille

One of Ashley's favorite local coffee shops! Great drinks, delicious food, and a selection of indoor or outdoor seating. They are dog friendly, so Kody is a regular there too :)

Java Surf Cafe & Espresso Bar

Amazing bread, baked goods, and Roman-style pizza. Unique pizzas are served daily and baked fresh. Grab a beer and or wine from the fridge and grab a seat inside or out!

Prosperity Kitchen and Pantry

Love the sour beers here! There are often food trucks and live music. Board games inside. Stairs on the outside lead to a rooftop deck. Please visit their website or ask the staff to verify where free parking is.

Vibrant Shore Brewing Company

Aslin Beer Company has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating options. You can order draft beers, mixed drinks, and a variety of food from multiple bars.

If you feel like leaving the ocean front you can drive to the bay! Chic's Beach overlooks the Chesapeake Bay along Shore Drive and has great views of the Bay Bridge Tunnel. There are many dining options on the water including: The Porch: We love the fuego margarita and Mediterranean plate for an app. A great spot to watch the sunset and boats go by. Chick's: bar food, great views of the water, busy night life. Back Deck: One of our favorite spots to sit on the water and have a drink. We like to drive the Jeep with the top off and bring Kody! Brent likes the flat bread. Ashley doesnt recommend the food lol. Commonwealth: One of our favorite breweries! Huge beer selection that is always changing. Pizzas are also very good! Dockside: Great spot for a seafood dinner with water views. They have early bird specials and indoor/outdoor seating.
