Kohl and I met during the spring semester of my junior year of college. Like any good love story, we met in the most romantic way possible-- in agricultural economics class (futures and options markets to be exact). A few months prior, I had begun an internship for Union Pacific Railroad, for which I would spend the summer in Omaha, Nebraska.
We spent the summer texting back and forth and keeping up with each other's lives. I didn't think our friendship would amount to much more; by the end of the summer, I had accepted a full-time position post-grad in Omaha to work for the railroad.
In the fall of 2022, Kohl and I started school again. We began spending time together outside of class and study sessions, and our friendship quickly deepened. In September, Kohl asked me to make our relationship official. A couple of months later, Kohl and I were faced with some pretty big decisions. I was still on track to move cross country in May, and Kohl was graduating in December and beginning to work at his family business. We wrestled with the idea of me finding a job in Louisiana versus him finding a job in Omaha or parting ways.
Around this time, after months of discerning and deliberating in prayer, and applying for jobs with little to no luck, I felt torn about what door I was supposed to walk through in the next season of life. In mid-February, I attended World Mandate with my church. On two occasions throughout the weekend, two individuals who did not know each other prayed the same vision over me, reassuring me that The Lord's plans for Kohl & I were just & good. Two days later I received a job offer in Baton Rouge! This was the confirmation that Kohl and I needed to ensure we were making the correct decision in remaining a couple.
Fast forward one year later, after many memories were made, we are engaged and Kohl's love for me reminds me so much of Christ's love for the Church. He is challenging, loving, patient, forgiving, and kind. Being in relationship with Kohl has and continues to refine and renew me! I am so excited to be his wife!
