Our Story

When I first laid eyes on Nick, I couldn’t help but fall for his crazy good looks. Those eyes, those muscles, those…. Ok, this is actually Nick just trying to jot down a few notes on what might’ve been going through Ashlyn’s head when we first met. All I remember is her saying something about how I looked like Brad Pitt? Not sure who that is but hopefully that’s a good thing. Anyways, since my non dad/dad jokes already suck, I’ll stick to serious from here on out.

Our story is a story I believe that God had the absolute biggest smile writing. He put a small town Kansas kid with a crazy guitar dream & a Washington state soon to be nurse in a bar in Nashville at the same time a little over three years ago.

From my perspective, it was just another night out. Another night on a barstool. Another night spending money I didn’t have on a hand full of beers so I could hopefully meet a handful of friends. Little did I know, a future Walsh would be sitting in the bar that night as well.

I was out with my buddy Eli Locke that night & after a couple of hours of creepily staring at this DIME in the bar, I finally got the chance to talk to her. Ashlyn didn’t seem super amused & probably didn’t have those same unrealistic feelings of (this is my future wife/husband vibes after 5 minutes) as I did until about 5 dates in, however, I’ve always loved thinking unrealistically & even if it sounded crazy that midtown night, I hopped in my Uber home & texted my buddy Eli & said “that’s gonna be my wife”.

Fast forward a few dates to New Year’s Eve. I asked Ashlyn if she wanted to be my girlfriend & had the pleasure of meeting her folks, Dion & Tami. I’ve never met any other humans as loving & just a joy to be around as my soon to be mother & father in law. I’m sure they had their initial questions when their perfect angel daughter fell for a guitar man with a few too many bad habits but they never made me feel that way & gave me a chance to prove how much I loved their daughter.

From Spokane trips, to Kansas trips, to Harry Potter world, to golden tee tournaments, to lake weekends, to apartment living, to dog parenting, to backyard grilling, to laughs, to tears, coffees & beers, I would say the last few years have been the best of my life. I’m so proud & just feel like the luckiest man alive to be Ashlyn’s man.

There is no amount of success in my career, no amount of money made on a 25 leg parlay, no score on a golden tee match, & no amount of fresh new balances that could hold a candle to just getting to do life with you Ash! I hit the lottery. I can’t wait to make you a Walsh.

To all of you reading, I can’t wait to celebrate with you! Cheers
