Carson and Ashlyn met while playing frisbee at orientation weekend at Roberts Wesleyan College. From there, they quickly became friends as they grew to know each other more through club frisbee, studying for Old Testament, going to church together, and talking for many hours at Garlock Dining Hall.

After agreeing that they were interested in being more than friends, Carson and Ashlyn started dating after a nice long day of hiking. Since that day, they have enjoyed many adventures together, including high ropes courses, hiking, thrift shopping, dancing, cooking, disc golfing, and going out to their favorite restaurants.

Ashlyn's favorite memory:

Walking around Royalton Ravine in the snow on our 6 month anniversary and making Christmas cookies afterward.

Carson's favorite memory:

The countless nights that we spent staying up way too late in the dorm lounge to have long conversations and watch movies and shows together.

This was the first full day that Carson and Ashlyn spent on vacation at Carson's Grandma's lake house in Quebec. They ended up preparing dinner for Carson's extended family. After dinner, they decided to go for another row boat ride in hopes of seeing the sunset from the lake. On the ride, Carson joked about how it would have been a perfect moment to propose if only he had a ring. But little did Ashlyn know, he actually did have a ring! Carson got down on one knee in the row boat and asked Ashlyn to marry him. As you may have guessed, she said yes! They returned to the lake house to find that Carson's family had prepared an engagement party while they were on the lake.

What's next?

After the wedding, Carson and Ashlyn plan to move down to Kentucky, where Carson will begin his graduate work. He intends to pursue a Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary. During that time, Ashlyn plans to find a job at one of the hospitals in Lexington, which is only about a 30-minute drive from the seminary. She hopes to get a position as a nurse working in labor and delivery or postpartum care.
