We met in 2020 at the University of North Georgia during undergrad. After talking and FaceTiming daily he finally asked me on a date. He drove all the way from Blairsville, Ga to McDonough, Ga (3 hours) just to take me on a date for the day!
He showed up in a hat, t-shirt, shorts and tennis shoes and when I opened the door he realized he was severely underdressed because I was in a dress and heels. We still talk about it to this day and he still underdresses compared to me from time to time.
We officially started dating in August of 2020. Since then he has proved to be the funniest, most devoted and most faithful person I know.
Dawson had a devastating year in 2021 as both his parents went to be with the Lord. Through this very difficult time in his life he was still always shining Gods light which made me fall in love with him even more. Though it was a more difficult for him than I can ever imagine, I truly believe God brought us closer together through it all.
We dated for roughly 2 years before Dawson popped the question on July 23rd, 2022. I would say that it was a complete surprise but I knew he was planning something the whole time.
I had a feeling he was going to pop the question so I asked my best friend, Callie, to go shopping for a nice dinner dress “just in case” (I even made her get down on one knee and pretend to be Dawson so I could envision what it would look like if he were to actually propose). Callie, of course had known for months but she did a fabulous job playing it cool.
On the day of, I had never seen Dawson so nervous which pretty much solidified my suspicion that he was going to propose. He did throw me off just a little once we left dinner and headed back towards our city, but then he got a phone call from one of his fellow football coaches who told him he needed to go check the field out because it had been vandalized.
Once we arrived at the field, I stayed in the car until he called me and told me to come out to look at the field real quick. When I started walking out I realized it was just us two and there was no vandalization done to the field, that was the moment I knew he was proposing. I pretty much blacked out when he grabbed my hands and started talking about how he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me but what I do remember was saying yes to forever with my absolute best friend.
One of our close friends, Katelyn Pritchard, was able to catch it all on camera and afterwards we headed to Dahlonega where it all started and we celebrated with our closest friends and family which made for the most perfect night.
We are so thankful for every person who helped us get to this point and we are extremely grateful that God has brought us together and we cannot wait to spend forever together!
