If we had to sum our story up in one sentence it would be this: Two broken people who were saved by the grace of Jesus, brought together to selflessly serve and love one another in the same the way that Christ loves the church. We’re not perfect by any means, but we’re blessed to strive to be together. We love the Lord and we know this life we get to spend together is a living testimony to His faithfulness and goodness. Looking back on our lives, we can so vividly see that this marriage was a part of God’s plan for us all along.
We first met when we were 21 years old, and at this point, we had both given our lives to Christ. While neither one of us were necessarily looking for a relationship, we were both open and ready for the blessings God had for us.
During our last two years of college, we both ended up at the same school and the same church! Joseph says that the first time he ever saw me was on campus and he thought to himself, “Dang. Who’s that cute blonde?!” Ironically, we both ended up attending the young adults program at our church and started to hang out in the same friend group. We noticed something special when him and I would be so lost in conversation that we had no idea what any of our other friends had talked about the whole night.
We started to hang out one on one, and before we knew it, we were best friends falling in love. We were hanging out every day! Whether we were studying, grabbing a bite to eat, or just sitting and talking, we wanted to be together 24/7, and not a single thing has changed since then. Over the past year and a half, we’ve spent every day loving each other and doing life together. Excitement is an understatement of how we feel about getting to do so for the rest of our lives.
In our dating relationship, we’ve had to learn a lot of forgiveness and grace, and then some. But we’ve also learned to be quick to say I love you, have ears that are quick to listen, and a heart that’s slow to anger. We’ve been able to learn and grow together so much already, we can only imagine how much more God has for us in marriage.
We can’t wait to celebrate our first day as husband and wife with each and every one of you! You all play such an important role in our lives and we can't thank you enough for your support. We both love you so, so much!
Surely His goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives (Pslam 23:6).
