Our Wedding

Athena never expected her last week in Lexington, Kentucky, to change her life forever. She was packing up to move back home to Delaware, ready to start a new chapter, when she met Ky — a kind, warm-hearted soul. What started as a simple conversation turned into late-night talks and spending every moment they could together before she left. When Athena finally moved home, Ky realized he couldn’t let her go. So, he followed her to Delaware. There, Ky got to meet Athena’s welcoming family. They immediately embraced him, treating him like one of their own. Things between Athena and Ky became serious quickly, and for a while, everything felt perfect. But soon, Ky had to return to Lexington for work. The goodbye was painful. Long-distance was harder than either of them expected — nights felt longer, and days felt incomplete without each other. But they stayed strong, calling, texting, and planning the next time they’d be together.Then one especially lonely day, Ky asked if Athena would come live with him. Athena didn’t hesitate. She packed her things once more and moved back to Kentucky to be with him. Life together felt right, but they both dreamed of having a place to truly call their own. So, Ky decided to move out of the apartment in Lexington, and together they started looking for a new home. After weeks of searching, they turned their eyes toward Crawfordsville, Indiana, where Ky’s mother, Deanna, lives. Deanna welcomed them with open arms, letting them stay in her cozy home while they searched for something permanent.After many long days they finally found it — a beautiful new-build duplex in Greencastle, Indiana. It was the perfect place to start their next chapter.&nbsp; Once they settled in, Ky decided it was time to add one more member to their little family. They adopted an adorable dachshund puppy and named him Richard. From the moment they brought him home, he became the heart of their household — playful, loyal, and loved beyond words. Richard went everywhere with them and quickly became the star of their story. Life in Greencastle was peaceful and full of love. They spent weekends visiting Ky’s family in Ashland, Kentucky, sharing dinners and laughter at Deanna’s home, and taking trips to Delaware to visit Athena’s family. Each visit, each memory strengthened the bond they shared. As time went on, Ky knew without a doubt that Athena was the one. Before their summer trip to Delaware, he asked her parents for her hand in marriage. They told him nothing would make them happier, and he got to planning. Then, on July 11th, 2025, during their Delaware vacation, Ky led Athena to a beautiful gazebo adorned with summer flowers. The air was warm, the moment perfect. As he got down on one knee, Athena’s heart swelled with emotion — all the miles, all the moves, all the love had led to this. She said yes.Their story, which began as a chance meeting in Lexington, had become a lifelong promise. Now, as they plan their wedding and dream about their future together, Athena and Ky can’t wait to celebrate with their family, their friends, and their sweet pup Richard — the little family that made every step of the journey worthwhile.

Colleen and Athena met during their junior year of high school after both moved to Delaware; they quickly became inseparable and have been close friends ever since.

London and Athena became close friends in Lexington after being introduced by a mutual friend. London recently earned her real estate license and is a partner with the Janell Stuckwisch Group in Union, KY.

London Townsend 

Anna and Athena have been friends since they rode the bus together in middle school. Anna studies marketing at the University of Kentucky and is completing a social media internship with a Greek apparel company.

Artemis is Athena’s baby sister; despite the five-year age difference they’re very close. Artemis will be a junior at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes, Delaware and enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Athena's built-in best friend lives her best life in Delaware and enjoys her long walks on the bike trails. She works from home for Nationwide insurance.

Athena's dad works for a local brewery in Lewes,Delaware called Dogfish Head. He spends most weekends biking to the beach and enjoying the local community.

Keegan is Ky’s right-hand man and close friend; recently married, he still lives just down the road. He works with Ky in Indiana and is always ready to help.

Case Layne is Ky’s older brother and partner-in-crime. They grew up close and still live just down the road; weekends often find them relaxing by the pool at their mom’s house, swapping stories and cheering each other on.

Ky sees his mom often since moving just a town away; she works at a nearby rehabilitation center and is always supportive—between her warm meals and steady encouragement, she’s one of his biggest fans.

Nikki is a dedicated nurse at King's Daughters in Ashland, Kentucky. She loves spending her free time with family and serving the community.

Ky’s father is his biggest role model and constant supporter. As the owner and operator of Laynes, he inspires Ky with his dedication, strong work ethic, and steady encouragement.

Ferry services have been operation in Augusta since April 2, 1798, when John Boude began shuttling passengers between Kentucky and Ohio in his hand-propelled ferry. To this day, the&nbsp;Jenny Ann, continues to transport her passengers between Augusta and Boude's landing, located one mile west of Higginsport, Ohio. As one of the oldest ferry services still in operation on the Ohio River, the&nbsp;Augusta Ferry&nbsp;runs 7 days a week from 8 AM to 8 PM.

The Baker-Bird site is the most historic spirits site in America. The distiller, John Baker, fought in the American Revolution and distilled in Washington County, Pennsylvania during the Whiskey Rebellion. John moved to Augusta, Kentucky in 1797 and continued to distill.
