Q + A

What is the venue like?

Known as the “Pueblo on the Prairie,” the New Mexico-inspired home of Charlie’s grandparents John and Sarabess Cahill is an authentic adobe structure unlike any other in the Midwest. The home is situated on five acres of prairies and forests, which you will be immersed in during the ceremony and reception. We can’t wait to experience the magic of this place with you. Address: 105 Indian Ridge Rd, Mettawa, Illinois.

What should I wear?

It’s important to dress for comfort. The ceremony, cocktail hour and reception will take place outside, and the unpaved paths to each location will be challenging to traverse in stilettos. Please leave spiked heels and other uncomfortable footwear at home. The official dress code for the event is garden party cocktail. While there are no hard rules, think typical cocktail attire with a floral, colorful, textured and whimsical twist. It’s most important to us that you feel confident and at ease.

Is there parking at the venue?

For those driving to the venue, there is limited parking available that will require a short walk. We strongly recommend coordinating rides with other guests. For those staying at the hotel, there will be a shuttle bus to the venue before the ceremony begins (it will depart at 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m.), and back to the hotel after the reception ends.

What is the weather like?

September is a beautiful time of year in Chicagoland, with average temperatures reaching the mid-70s during the day and the mid-50s in the evening. We recommend you bring a jacket, if that would make you feel more comfortable in the evening.

Are children invited to the wedding?

We respectfully request no children at the wedding.

Does my invitation include a plus-one?

Due to limited capacity at our venue, we are not able to accommodate plus-ones. We kindly ask that only those included on the invitation attend.

Should I take photos at the ceremony?

Our talented photography team will capture the entire ceremony from beginning to end, and we request a tech-free experience for this portion of the wedding. We look forward to seeing your photos from the reception and other parts of the event.
