Ryan and Aubree met during their sophomore year at El Toro High School in Mr. Johnson's Biology class. They sat next to one another for the majority of the semester, and Ryan found a sure-fire way to spark conversation: animal facts. He'd come to class with new animal facts to share daily, many being giraffe facts once he'd realized they shared a love and fascination for the creatures. Their friendship grew throughout the year and it wasn't until the end of Junior year that they started dating. They dated all through senior year and a quite a bit post-graduation.
April of 2008 the two broke up and went their separate ways.
It wasn't until November 2010 that they had reconnected. Ryan had recently transferred to the University of Southern California and wanted to share the news with Aubree, since attending USC had always been his dream. They spent the next few weeks exchanging texts and eventually she headed up to LA to visit for a weekend. The following week was Thanksgiving and he'd be back home, giving them more time to spend together. After a couple weeks of teeter-totter crushes, they leveled out, strengthened and started dating January 2011.
In their years of dating they've spent a lot of time working out, hiking, cooking(eating), visiting pet stores and shelters, playing sports, watching sports & Netflix and traveling. They've traveled to San Francisco, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, Illinois, Lousiana, Hawaii, Mexico, Ireland, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Hungary. It was at the Neuschwanstein Castle in Shwangau, Germany that Ryan got down on one knee and asked Aubree to marry him. She said yes, and after celebratory hugs and tears among Ryan, Aubree, Dorrine(Ryan's mom) and Matt(Ryan's brother), Matt brought it to Ryan's attention that he had proposed on metal grate flooring with square inch gaps- though the ring wasn't dropped(THANK GOD), Ryan still gets an upset stomach when the situation is mentioned!
