The story officially begins in 2019, but the road to get there feels as if it should have been much earlier than that.
It starts on Fortsythe St. A family street in Camillus, NY, where each of the family grandparents called home only a few houses from each other. Travis would play waffle ball in the backyard while Aubrey walks the path to shove park past the backyard - neither of them ever having a clue. The sport of hockey that both loved so much, both playing for Camillus and winning the Schoonmaker Sportsmanship Award - yet neither of them ever having a clue they were sitting in the same room. Both would leave home to play hockey in different states/ countries, only to come back and meet randomly in 2019. How paths never crossed is mind boggling, but we’re happy the paths did.
As things started to take off in the summer of 2019, Fall was approaching and before time had any impact, distance for Travis and Graduate school separated the two. The distance turned into phone calls, and long trips of Aubrey to Ohio. While the dating began, things at times became challenging, but the world threw another curveball that allowed things to spark.
When the Covid pandemic took over the world, Travis moved back home and things took off. Every day became a new memory. Travis was still in school, Aubrey was working through Covid, so what better time to move in together?! Before they knew it, Aubrey and Travis were venturing to the Adirondacks regularly, and, you guessed it, Lake Placid. The relevance of hockey and the ADK became a special place to both. Whether it be sight seeing, shopping, camping, or fishing, there’s always a connection they both enjoy. After the proposal in Alaska, there was no place more special that made sense for Aubrey and Travis given their love for hockey and the outdoors. Their love for this place and love for their families, will surely make for an incredible day at an incredible place!
We can’t wait to celebrate with you all!
