Andy and Aubrey met a year before they officially started dating. In July 2022, Andy was working for the Summer STEM program at Herndon Middle School, but a broken HVAC system meant the program would be held at Rachel Carson Middle school, at the same time Aubrey was working for their Summer Imagine program.

Aubrey and Andy first met in the parking lot, when Andy tried to strike up a conversation and Aubrey didn't realize he was talking to her. After a joking moment, they ended up introducing themselves, and would end up making small talk in the halls throughout the rest of the program. While there were some short interactions, the summer program went by and the two had a seemingly missed connection.

Luckily, their paths crossed again the next year when both Herndon Middle and Rachel Carson Middle were set to host their summer programs at Hughes Middle school. Andy and Aubrey were happily surprised to see each other at Hughes and continued small talk until a fateful Friday fire drill when both classes were outside in the same area. As they were re-entering the building, Aubrey asked Andy what his weekend plans were, and he mentioned he was playing a game called "Magic: the Gathering" with a friend. As a coincidence, Aubrey had been collecting cards for the game but never learned how to play. Delighted to hear this news, Andy suggested that they play cards next day and the rest is history.

Now, Aubrey and Andy both host MTG club at their respective middle schools and enjoy playing cards together on the weekends. They share a lovely condo in Manassas with their three boys, Bo (a cat), Griffin (a parrot), and Ziggy (a rabbit).
