Our story

Picture of Our story

Our story starts in June of 2018.

No, wait, let's go further back than that.

Our story starts in October 2017. A 15 year-old Aubrey was on her first church trip EVER! Naturally, she began scouting out the second most important thing at church camp (after Jesus, of course) - cute boys! That's when she first saw Cam. We'd love to tell you it was love at first sight, but after finding out that he was a grade below her in high school (a freshman - could you believe it?), she immediately said, "Nope, not for me." One thing stuck in her mind, however - his last name, "Mesman," printed on the back of his sweatshirt.

Fast forward 8 months to June 2018 (this is where the fun really starts). Cam and Aubrey were both attending yet another church camp, but this time, in Florida. Between Aubrey's outgoing friends and Cam's ability to be in the right place at the right time, their paths truly crossed for the first time on a boardwalk in Panama City Beach. They quickly struck up conversation and, with their other friends, formed their own church camp friend group. However, despite Aubrey earning the title of Cam's "camp crush" (which she would later find out), their friendship didn't go far beyond the bus ride home to Iowa.

In March 2019, all that changed - this time, due to a hurt ankle and once again, Cam's ability to be in the right place at the right time. After an afternoon of track practice, her ankle wrapped in ice and limping - somewhat dramatically - down the hallway, Aubrey passed by Cam. It was a quick interaction, no more than a smile and a "Hey Aubrey, how are you?" from Cam. But, it was enough to spark Aubrey's interest.

So, as all modern day high school romances go, Aubrey went home and added Cam on Snapchat. They started talking about Jesus, Cam bought Aubrey Sour Patch Kids, and the rest (after almost 6 years together and 3 years of long distance) is history. Now, the last name that was printed on the back of the cute freshman boy at church camp will soon belong to Aubrey too! <3
